Charleston

Charleston really is full of Southern Charm!

Charleston is known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and delicious cuisine. It was founded all the way back in 1670.  It is currently full of charm, cobblestone streets, colorful homes, and historic landmarks. It also has a a thriving food scene these days. A group of my friends went there to explore the town and visit a friend who was living there at the time.  What better way to see a city then with a local. She loved her time living here and she defiantly knew her way around.

We stayed at The Dewberry Charleston Hotel, a swanky, whimsical, gorgeous hotel that is located along Marion Square. I absolutely recommend, if not staying there, at least step in for a visit and check out the views from the rooftop Citrus Club.  We also grabbed dinner at Halls Chophouse, a cool high end steakhouse located right on King Street just a few blocks away from our hotel. This place is a whole experience. You will need a reservation, if you can not get in at least stop in for a drink and take in the atmosphere.

If you want to get a little rowdy, make sure you stop into Uptown Social, this is a college bar just down the street. It has multiple levels and is very popular.  The night we went they were doing a silent disco which was perfect for us. lol

We also went across the bridge to Sham Creek to have lunch at Saltwater Cowboys. Its about a 15 min drive depending on traffic. But nice to see another area.  This charming, casual spot on the water is perfect for lunch. The surrounding view is beautiful and the food is great so you can’t go wrong.

While visiting we did a walking tour and ghost tour that took us all over Downtown Charleston. We explored revived historic landmarks, parks, cobblestone streets, bars, and theaters.  We went through a number of different neighborhoods we even went by Patricia Altschul lovely home and ran into Michael her Butler. He was the sweetest, he chatted with us for a brief minute, took a picture with us and went in and got us all a copy of Patricia’s book.  What a gem!
