“Park City where Winter is not a season, it’s a Celebration!” – Unknown

Park City is home to two major ski resorts: Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort.

Park City Mountain Resort is one of the largest ski resorts in the country and offers a wide range of skiing and snowboarding experiences across a vast terrain that caters to all skill levels. The resort is known for its excellent snow quality and extensive lift system. In the summer, the resort transforms into an adventure hub with activities like mountain biking, hiking, and zip-lining.

Deer Valley Resort, on the other hand, is known for its upscale amenities and is consistently ranked among the top ski resorts in North America for its customer service, dining, and ski-in/ski-out lodging. Unlike Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort is a ski-only area and does not allow snowboarding. The resort is famous for its meticulously groomed runs, high-quality snow, and luxurious atmosphere. Deer Valley also offers a range of summer activities, including hiking, mountain biking, and outdoor concerts.

Both resorts were venues for the 2002 Winter Olympics, enhancing their reputation as world-class winter sports destinations. Park City’s historic Main Street also offers a variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars, making it a lively place for après-ski and cultural experiences year-round.

I have had the opportunity to ski on both mountains and they are both phenomenal.  Since getting back on skis the past 2 years I have to say I love Deer Valley the most.  It’s just such an exquisite mountain for any skier.  Both mountains offer great slopes and lodging. Some of my favorite places on and off the mountain are listed below.

Another really cool thing we did while in the area was go the the Utah Olympic Park. It was built for the 2002 Winter Olympics and served as the venue for bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, Nordic combined, and ski jumping events. The park spans over 400 acres.  Post-Olympics, the park has continued to serve as a training center for athletes and is also a popular tourist destination offering various recreational activities and adventure sports for the general public.  We did the bobsledding experience, it is on the real bobsled track with real competitive bobsledders that take you down at record speeds. You are going about 70 mph in less then 50 seconds.  It is a really cool opportunity and will put you back about $200 per person.

Depending on when you are visiting you can also drive about 30 mins to an area called Midway and check out the Ice Castles. The experience is weather-dependent and typically runs from late December to February, varying each year based on the weather conditions. They are created by professional ice artists who place hundreds of thousands of hand-placed icicles each day, allowing them to fuse together to form towering, glacial structures. The result is a breathtaking and fairy-tale-like spectacle.

Great Spots to Check Out!

Chimayo – Upscale destination serving creative Southwestern fare in a warmly decorated space with a fireplace.  The food here is quality. The whole place is to be honest.  All the way down to the take home bags.

High West Distillery – Ski-in gastro-distillery offering tours, a wide range of whiskeys & American bar food.  Yummy food and happenin’ place to hang out.

Hearth and Hill – Just a short distance down the road. Stylish family-run restaurant plating modern American & globally-inspired dishes with vegan options. Nice spot with really great food!

The Vintage Room – St. Regis Deer Valley – Best après ski spot at the Deer Valley Resort.  Offers cocktails and DJ on certain days.

Stein Eriksen Lodge – Lunch here is an experience. The buffet is next level and everything you try is a delight. You may want to call and make a reservation as it does get very busy.

  1. I genuinely savored the work you’ve put forth here. The outline is refined, your authored material trendy, however, you seem to have obtained some trepidation about what you wish to deliver next. Assuredly, I will revisit more regularly, akin to I have nearly all the time, provided you maintain this upswing.

  2. Stumbling upon this website was such a delightful find. The layout is clean and inviting, making it a pleasure to explore the terrific content. I’m incredibly impressed by the level of effort and passion that clearly goes into maintaining such a valuable online space.
