Montana is calling… And you should answer!
Montana has been a hot spot for the last few years since the show Yellowstone came out. People are flocking there, and for good reason. Montana is known as “Big Sky Country,” Montana is home to stunning natural landscapes, including the Rocky Mountains, Glacier National Park, and Yellowstone National Park. Montana is also known for its rich history.
Whitefish, Montana is a charming town located in the northwest corner of the state. It’s situated at the base of Whitefish Mountain Resort, which offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter and hiking and mountain biking in the summer. The town itself has a vibrant downtown area with shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Whitefish Lake, which is where we stayed, offers opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming. Specifically, we stayed at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. A luxury resort located on the shores of Whitefish Lake. The rustic yet elegant decor, reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The lodge offers a variety of amenities, including a full-service spa, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, and a lakeside beach area. There are also several dining options on-site, including the Boat Club Lounge and Restaurant, which serves up delicious cuisine with stunning lake views. They often have live music and is the perfect spot for a cocktail and a bite with a view.
We were there in early spring for Montana so it wasn’t the most beautiful time of year with the changing of season. But I definitely want to return to this lodge in every season. A summer on the lake here would be an amazing experience! The skiing in the Winter here is also top notch. People come from all over to Ski at The Whitefish Mountain Resort. It is at the top of the hill, the surrounding homes are exquisite and the views of the lake from up there are breathtaking.
When flying to Whitefish you fly into Glacier Park International Airport. Flights can be pricey as the Glacier National Park is near by and over 3 million people visit the park annually. If you visit the area you should definaly take the time to go into the park also. Like all our National Parks it is worth it!
Another great spot while you are in the area is Whitefish Lake Restaurant. This place has been around since 1937 it has a bar and dining room. The food was delicious and as the night went on the place became a bit more lively.
Since we were in the heart of western country we decided to catch a rodeo while we were in town. There are a number of rodeos in Montana throughout the year so if this is something you are interested in doing it shouldn’t be too hard to find one. One of the most famous rodeos in Montana is the “The Last Best Rodeo” which takes place annually in Helena. This event attracts top cowboys and cowgirls from around the country and features a variety of competitions and events.
