Bozeman, Montana, is a charming city nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. People are flocking to this area in the recent years and it’s not hard to see why once you visit. The city boasts a vibrant downtown area with unique shops, art galleries, and delicious dining options. With its friendly community, stunning landscapes, and access to nearby national parks like Yellowstone, Bozeman is a haven for nature lovers and a perfect destination for those seeking an authentic Montana experience. Not only is it beautiful, Bozeman offers a wide array of outdoor activities for adventure enthusiasts. From hiking and skiing to fishing and wildlife watching, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Bozeman is near so many great areas for exploring. We hitched up the camper and headed to Cameron, Montana for a few nights on the river under the stars. Nothing like a crackling fire, good tunes and bit of whiskey! We stayed in the Madison River Campground, gorgeous spot just on the other side of the river from Grizzly Bar & Grill, off Hwy 287. There is hiking, off-roading, and fishing all accessible in this area.
About an hour southeast of Cameron you can find yourself at the entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park is a true natural wonder and a crown jewel of the United States. Located primarily in Wyoming but also extending into Montana and Idaho, it was established as the first national park in 1872. Spanning over 2.2 million acres, Yellowstone is renowned for its geothermal features, including the famous Old Faithful geyser that erupts at regular intervals. The park is home to an incredible array of wildlife, such as grizzly bears, wolves, elk, and herds of bison that roam freely across its vast landscapes. With its unparalleled beauty and unique geology, Yellowstone National Park offers visitors an unforgettable experience in nature’s grandeur.
Before you enter the park the little town of West Yellowstone has a number of shops, restaurants and gas stations you can stop into and get a bite or survivors. We ate at Hanks Chop Shop, great spot with good food and a lovely patio to hang out on. Plus they are pet friendly!
Yellowstone will most defiantly leave you in awe. As it is amazing! Another cool spot on the North side just outside of Yellowstone we visited was Sage Lodge. A luxurious retreat in Paradise Valley, Montana. Surrounded by mountains and the Yellowstone River, it offers stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. The lodge features cozy rooms, suites, and private cabins with modern amenities. The on-site restaurant serves farm-to-table cuisine with panoramic views. Guests can relax in outdoor hot tubs, enjoy the heated pool, or indulge in spa treatments. Outdoor activities include fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and winter sports. Sage Lodge is an ideal destination for relaxation and adventure in Montana’s wilderness. We only stopped in for lunch but I would love to plan a trip back to stay there.

Benchmark – Take in the expansive views of the Gallatin range, while in the heart of downtown. Benchmark is our four-season rooftop restaurant and bar located on the sixth floor which serves up handcrafted cocktails and locally sourced Neapolitan pizza.
Bozeman Taproom & Spirits – Craft-beer haunt with rotating taps, American eats, a scenic roof deck & live music in roomy digs.
