“The most beautiful, relaxing, boho, fun, place wrapped up in shady and a bit sketchy all at once!” – ME
Tulum is located just south of Cancun. Which is where you would fly into. Tulum is famous for its beautiful beaches, eco-friendly accommodations, yoga retreats, and trendy eateries. It’s a popular destination for those interested in wellness, adventure, history, and nature. We took on Tulum with not much expectations besides fun and adventure with friends and boy was it just that. We were celebrating a 40th birthday and I think we thought we were 21!
We arrived and hit the ground running. Enjoying some really yummy cocktails at the Airport Margaritaville while we waited for the rest of our friends to arrive. From there we checked into our hotel, La Posada del Sol Boutique Hotel and got ready for dinner which was at Casa Banana. Casa Banana was fabulous the food was delicious and the whole place was relaxed and beautiful. I highly recommend.
The next day a group of us did the Coba and Cenotes Excursion. This tour is a full-day tour that takes you through some of the most impressive Mayan archaeological sites in the area. The tour includes exploring the ruins of Tulum and Coba, climbing an ancient pyramid, and learning about Maya culture. The tour also includes visiting 2 natural sinkholes, or cenotes, where you can swim in turquoise waters. It runs about $235 per person with lunch, but defiantly worth it if you have never seen either of these attractions. And we did the early morning tour and were alone with our group at most places.
That evening after a much deserved rest on the beach we got jungle chic and headed to dinner for the best night ever! We ate dinner at Gitano a hip restaurant that turns into a disco club after. Unfortunately, but fortunately it is all outside and rained on us the entire time. We completely embraced it and had the most unforgettable, amazing time of our lives! The only negative I will say about this place it is really tries to push drugs on you and there are tons of thieves, so keep a close eye on your things and best to have some guys in your group.
Another day was full of relaxing and laying low with massages set up by our hotel and exploring the area around us.
On our last day we chartered a Catamaran from the Riviera Maya Marina and did a day/evening boat cruise with all the drinks and food you could get your hands on. There was snorkeling, swimming and paddle boarding available all day. What a great way to wrap up such an incredible vacation with amazing people.
