The trip of a LIFETIME! St. John – USVI, BVI, St. Thomas – USVI
St. John – USVI
People from all corners of the globe flock to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) for an unforgettable travel experience, and our two-week vacation there was nothing short of extraordinary. The allure of the BVI lies in its breathtaking waters and pristine beaches, creating an idyllic setting that captivates the hearts of travelers. Our journey began with three blissful days on the enchanting island of St. John, where we were fortunate enough to stay at The Westin St. John.
Nestled amidst St. John’s natural beauty, The Westin St. John proved to be an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a picture-perfect beach nestled in a stunning cove, offering us front-row seats to witness some of the most mesmerizing sunsets imaginable. The resort itself was a haven of indulgence, boasting an array of amenities that catered to our every need. Whether we wanted to take a refreshing dip in the pool or ocean, unwind at the bar with a tropical cocktail in hand, engage in friendly games with fellow guests, maintain our fitness routine at the gym, or stock up on essentials at the on-site store, The Westin St. John has it all.
Our accommodations at The Westin St. John were nothing short of luxurious. We opted for a spacious three-bedroom villa complete with a fully equipped kitchen, allowing us to prepare our own meals whenever we desired. But perhaps the highlight of our villa was the private pool and jacuzzi, providing us with moments of pure relaxation and tranquility amidst the tropical paradise.
While St. John itself is renowned for its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, there is so much more to explore beyond The Westin resort. The island offers numerous hiking trails that wind through lush forests and lead to breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the Caribbean Sea. St. John offers a plethora of charming shops where visitors can indulge in retail therapy and find unique souvenirs or exquisite jewelry to bring back home. In addition to exploring the shops, we embarked on an unforgettable half-day tour of St. John with Star Fish Tours and Taxi. Our knowledgeable guides took us on a journey, showcasing the island’s most breathtaking beaches and iconic landmarks (my favorite being Maho Bay), and Virgin Islands National Park. Along the way, we were treated to panoramic views of Epstiens Island (which the locals feel might be cursed now) and caught a glimpse of Kenny Chesney’s House, adding an extra touch of celebrity allure to our adventure. The tour providing us with fascinating insights into the island’s history, culture, and natural beauty.
We also ate at a few local spots you might enjoy. High Tide sits right on the beach in Galge Cove, they serve good food with great service and a lively atmosphere. If your looking for something fancier you can head over to The Terrace a French-influenced, chef-driven restaurant that is redefining fine dining in the Virgin Islands with an elevated yet accessible menu featuring fresh local and flown in seafood, meats, premium ingredients and an eclectic wine list. Offering refined, contemporary and classic cuisine by Chef Erica Miner.
Overall, we loved our time in St. John as our introduction to the Islands and we can’t wait to go back.
